We’re celebrating after being awarded £10,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.
We will use the funding to deliver Wonderful Wednesday’s! The initiative will give community groups the opportunity to utilise everything we have to offer, from wellbeing and mindfulness workshops to reiki and yoga – or enjoy a good old cuppa and a chat in cosy surroundings!
This new National Lottery funding will tackle isolation and loneliness in our community, encouraging groups to come together every Wednesday.
Wonderful Wednesday will launch on 23rd February, when we will open our doors to the local community. Join us between 10AM and 4PM to enjoy activities including a healthy eating workshop, gentle exercise, and wellbeing activities.
Paula Chamberlain, CEO & Founder said: “We are so excited, thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can invite people into The Crescent and provide opportunity, purpose and a nice cuppa and a chat.”
Paula continues: “The Funding means we can help our community in so many ways. We have seen that we are now facing an even bigger pandemic following lockdown and the impact it has had on people’s mental health and the feeling of isolation and loneliness.
We are here for people as a safe place to enable them to access well-being services and other support. We also signpost as part of the social prescribing network. This will make a big difference to people’s lives in our area and increase community capacity.”
During the pandemic, The Crescent reached over 8000 people in the local community, with nominations for random acts of kindness, gifts, funded camp places for children in the holidays including a warm meal and at Christmas lots of treats for the whole family.
